Acme
Scuzz-blues pioneers The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion are
undertaking a unique reissue campaign, which began n April
with their collection Dirty Shirt Rock 'n' Roll: The First Ten
Years (Catalogue Number: SHOV10).
On stage and in the studio, Jon Spencer has destroyed and
rebuilt American roots music with such ferocity and wild
abandon it is hard to believe that there is anything left. The
trail of musical destruction he created with his legendary
group Pussy Galore still smolders in the avant punk blues and
nasty garage grind of the Blues Explosion, whose incredible,
innovative output remains an indelible totem to his enormous
mojo spirit and red-hot power of deliverance.
Of the campaign, Spencer says, "For me, it's been a wild ride
working on the reissues. There is a lot of power in the grooves
of these records. The Blues are still No.1."
This reissue combines the releases Acme + Xtra Acme into an
expanded double CD set, containing 43 songs in total including
The Black Godfather with Andre Williams and the demo of Talk
About The Blues previously only available on the Japanese
release Ura Acme, as well as remixes previously not on Xtra
Acme.
